From April 17th to 18th, FES Future of Work is actively involved in the Global Progressive Mobilisation Summit in Barcelona.

 

Barcelona to Host Major Progressive Summit with Sánchez, Lula and Ramaphosa

Progressives from all over the world will gather in Barcelona, Spain for the Global Progressive Mobalisation (GMP) Summit from April, 17th-18th. In times of rapid political change as well as the rise of conservative and far-right ideas, the GPM presents an alternative, incentivizing actors to connect and formulate progressive solutions for the issues of our time. Participants include, but are not limited to the Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez, Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula de Silva and South African President Cyril Ramaphosa

 

Friedrich Ebert Foundation Brings Future of Work to the Global Stage at GPM Summit

As part of the GPM Summit, the Friedrich Ebert Foundation (FES) contributes to this international exchange by organising, moderating and hosting a plethora of events addressing contemporary progressive challenges in different fields. From discussions on gender inequality conceptions in Gen Z, to migration in the globalised economy, fair wages and workers' rights and the global future of democracy, the Foundation provided a vital platform for cross-border dialogue, by bringing together trade unionists, policymakers and researchers from across the globe.

 

Panel 1: The Future of Work in the Age of Generative AI: A Social-Democratic Agenda

On April 17th, FES Future of Work will host the panel discussion on “The Future of Work in the Age of Generative AI: A Social-Democratic Agenda” with Christian Kellermann, Senior Researcher at the German Research Center for Artificial Intelligence, Enma López Araujo, Deputy Spokesperson of PSOE and René Repasi, S&D MEP, participating as panelist with moderation by our colleague Justin Nogarede

 

Panel 2: Trade Union Assembly Social Justice and Values: The Trade Union Response to the Far Right

Later that day, FES Future of Work in cooperation with ETUC, ITUC, CCOO, UGT co-hosts the “Trade Union Assembly Social Justice and Values: The Trade Union Response to the Far Right”, with Knut Dethlefsen, Director of FES Future of Work opening session. Leaders and representatives from trade unions from all over the globe will join the event, among them trade unionists from France, Sweden and Poland but also Brazil, the United States and South Africa. Together we will discuss the role of the far right and how to deal with them in three sessions.
